AN ODE TO THE LOST ONES
I met Nathan in beautiful
British Columbia
in the summer of 2O2O
We connected straight away
Two lost souls
And boy, was he lost
You could tell
There was something beautiful
about his ongoing transformation though
He had lived lives already
You could tell
He came straight
from tree planting
Not willing to end
the summer already
A few more highlights
to come
Equipped with good sense
for good moments
And the talent
to make a show
Snatching the attention
His appearance
in this world
was to be with a broad grin
and a boisterous voice
And I catch myself smiling
at the thought
that he must have been
grinning broadly
at the very second
before passing
Yes, he was living life to the fullest
And he was chasing those highlights
Sought the extremes
Self destruction was big on him
And boy
you could tell by his car
how he handles his own
The window taped with a plastic sheet
to cover the hole
One could have fun though
You could shoot golf balls off the roof
and even shoot at it with his air riffle
The first gear was broken
so it took off immediately at the launch
No time to slow down
or to react
It was a medium
A means to an aim
He told me once he was going to die young
I believed him straight away
That motherfukcer was not messing around
Some people burn out
they don’t fade away
The nature and the drugs
His allies in this venture
With the absence of fear
What would it be
at the end
End of July
You did see something
on your DMT-Rush
didn’t you
Weird you died
on the very day
one year later
You told me you wanted
to die in nature
Self prophecy hits big here
The fruition of nature is
no chance of hit or miss
It is inevitable as life
For Nathan...
there was just
one direction
Always on the run
Shave the head and go
Troubled ... young and lost
I let him down
That’s on me
Human flaws man
Forgot the person
behind them
He felt that
That’s on me
Pieces of him helped
save some lives
He had so much more
to give though
Have you been willing
to end the summer already
A few more highlights
to come
And that this big heart
lives on
It is a good heart
And too precious
to burn out like that
